CANADA150 – POSTCARDS AND POEMS CONTEST
The FBCW seeks your best Postcard Story or Poem that reflects upon the 150th Anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. We celebrate Canada’s storied past, its diversity, multiculturalism, rich indigenous heritage, its landscapes, its new voices. We look forward to your submissions.

CANADA150 – CREATIVE NON-FICTION CONTEST
The FBCW invites writers to submit creative non-fiction stories that celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary. Dig up some history that speaks to this theme, explores Canada, looks back at the 1967 Centennial or all the way back to the 1867 Confederation. Give us your own version of this amazing country, its history, multiculturalism and diversity, its indigenous stories, pioneer chronicles, ancestor adventures, or immigrant experiences.
- Creative Non-fiction (open)– 1500 word limit
Judged by Jeanette Taylor, writing instructor and author of four non-fiction books on the history of the BC coast.
- Young Writers Creative Non-fiction (18 and under)– 1500 word limit
Judged by Carla Funk, poet and past winner of The Malahat Review’s Constance Rooke Creative Non-fiction contest
Prizes – The winner of each category will receive a cash prize of $500.
